Giancarlo Stanton signs record deal with Miami Marlins

  • In the most expensive deal in the history of the US sport, Giancarlo Stanton has signed a $325 million contract with Miami Marlins that is valid for 13 years and comes with a no-trade clause.

The 25-year-old has the option of opting out of it after six years.

Jeffrey Loria, the owner of Marlins, described it as a “landmark day.”

Stanton was forced to miss the last 17 games of the previous season after an on-pitch injury and yet scored 37 home runs this year.
