Formula One test driver, who lost her right eye and suffered other serious injuries during a crash last year, died in Spain yesterday.
Maria De Villota was pronounced dead after paramedics attempted to revive her several times. Police said the 33-year old died of natural causes and there were no signs of violence or drugs.
De Villota mentioned in February that she felt "free" and was back to being herself. She even returned to a F1 paddock in May, where she reportedly felt a rush of adrenaline and also "a little bit of sadness" since she was near the sport that nearly killed her.
She had been scheduled to a present a book entitled "Life is a Gift" on Monday that explained in detail her horrific experiences following last year's crash.
