Cleveland Indian sign Michael Bourn

  • The Cleveland Indians have signed free-agent outfielder Michael Bourn to a four-year contract worth $48 million.

    Bourn, a two-time All-Star, batted .274 with a .348 on-base percentage and 42 steals in 155 games with the Braves last season.

    Atlanta acquired him in a trade-deadline deal with the Houston Astros the previous year.

    The 30-year-old broke into the majors in 2006 with the Philadelphia Phillies and has batted .272 with a .339 OBP over 871 career games.

    He led the league in steals from 2009-11 and has scored 459 total runs.
