Renowned Opera singer Licia Albanese dies

  • Licia Albanese, a renowned American opera singer, has died at the age of 105.

    Born in Italy in 1909, she sang at the New York Metropolitan Opera from 1940 to 1966.

    After making her debut as a professional in the 1930s, Albanese worked with several famous singers in her career, including Luciano Pavarotti at a later stage.

    After tasting success in Europe she went to the US and her first appearance was in New York in 1940 at the Metropolitan Opera.
