Grammy-winning US composer Wayne Carson dies, aged 72

  • Wayne Carson, the American composer behind the hit Elvis Presley song ‘Always on my Mind’, has died. He was 72. After he wrote ‘Always on my Mind’, two more writers — Mark James and Johnny Christopher — were added to it at the time of recording. Carson's other famous songs included ‘The Letter’, ‘Neon Rainbow’ and ‘Love At All for’.  

    In a tribute, Neil Portnow, the Recording Academy president, described the two-time Grammy-winner as an “immense talent”.
