Costa Book of the Year: Helen Macdonald wins award for memoir

Helen Macdonald has won the Costa Book of the Year award for ‘H is for Hawk’, a memoir, according to media reports.
The book, which also won the Samuel Johnson Prize, describes how the writer deals with the loss of her father by training a pet goshawk.
The £30,000 Costa Book award honors works by authors, who are based in Britain and Ireland.
The other authors in the running for the 2014 prize were Ali Smith, Emma Healey, Jonathan Edwards, and Kate Saunders.
