April 10 , 2015
In its biggest acquisition so far, professional networking site LinkedIn has bought American online learning firm Lynda for $1.5 billion.
The move is being seen as a bid to offer enhanced business content to LinkedIn’s 300 million estimated users.
The California-based Lynda, which makes videos that teach paid subscribers a wide variety of skills, has grown in popularity in recent years.
Jeff Weiner, the chief executive of LinkedIn, said that the missions of the two companies were “highly aligned.”
