JetBlue pilots to unionize
April 23 , 2014
The National Mediation Board revealed that JetBlue pilots have voted to unionize. They are now expected to join the Air Line Pilots Association, which said 71 percent of them voted in favor of a union.
CEO Dave Barger said the pilot's union and the airline will organize negotiating committees. The campaign reportedly succeeded since the pilots wanted a bargained contract in case their company decides to merge.
ALPA President Capt. Lee Moak didn't say how long it would take for the negotiated contract. ALPA is the largest pilot union in the world, representing about 50k of them as well as 31 airlines in Canada and United States.
