High demand in Velveeta results in shortage

Twitter users are referring to this as being a Cheesepocalypse.
A Kraft spokeswoman mentioned that the high demand and popularity of Velveeta may result in customers not being able to see their "favorite product on store shelves over the next couple of weeks."
"I can tell you there is a combination of factors involved, but the driver is really the high demand," she said.
The brand is 86 years old but still worth about $500M per year. The shortage of the non-seasonal product has surprised experts. "There is no dish served between Thanksgiving and Christmas that is quintessentially Velveeta," a culinary historian said. "The whole point of Velveeta is you keep it on the shelf indefinitely. It's the cheese for people who don't know how to cook."
