Google to invest in robots
December 5 , 2013
Google has become another big Internet firm to play the robotics game.
According to the New York Times, the company has bought up to seven American and Japanese companies in the past 6 months. Google now hopes to build robots, which would work on retail applications as well as manufacturing.
Andy Rubin, who built the software for Android smartphones, is the man in charge. Reports suggest that he left Android to work on robotics but this development is definitely going to require time. "Like any moonshot, you have to think of time as a factor," Rubin said. "We need enough runway and a 10-year vision."
