Eurozone: Economy grows by 0.4%, reflects slow recovery

  • The eurozone’s economy grew by 0.4% in the first quarter of this year amid a slow recovery, official data show.

The figure, though a little below expectations, reflects a gradual acceleration of growth in the past year and is the fastest quarterly growth in two years.

Germany’s economy performed below expectations, growing at 0.3% in the January-March period, because of a drop in exports. The French economy grew at 0.6%, the fastest in almost two years.
