 Mexico Earthquake: 7.2 magnitude quake slams the city

  • A powerful earthquake of magnitude 7.2 has shaken the south and central Mexico. This has cause unrest among people and buildings shook in Mexico City, about 350km (217 miles) away. The epicenter of the quake was 24.6km underground near the town of Pinotepa de Don Luis in Oaxaca state. No deaths are reported till now but buildings were severely damaged in Oaxaca. As per reports, there is no tsunami threat. The authorities have activated earthquake alert in five cities and have urged people to stay outdoors.

 Mexico hit by Magnitude 7.1 Earthquake

  • Latest reports coming in for the earthquake that struck Mexico yesterday suggest 217 confirmed deaths so far that includes 22 school going children. It is also being reported from the scene that as many as 75 buildings have suffered structural damage in the vicinity of the earthquake and operations at 200 schools have come to hault because of the damages by the earthquake with 15 schools suffering critical damage. As many as 11 aftershocks have been registered with the highest one having a magnitude of 4 on the Richter scale.
 
  • Mexico was once again rocked by a powerful earthquake bearing a magnitude of 7.1 on Richter scale on Tuesday 19 September 2017. At least 149 deaths have been confirmed so far in the disaster that took place some times during the day. Many were trapped under the rubble of a collapsed structure and 21 school going children are also belived to be amongst the dead. The incident took place just about a few days after the country was rocked by a massive earthquake of 8.1 magnitude. The earthquake is also feared to have initiated volcanic eruptions in Popocatépetl volcano, that happens to be Mexico's most active volcanos. The earthquake has hit the city of Morelas and the country's capital, Mexico City, where 64 and 36 people respectively have reportedly lost their lives. Rescue operations are underway.

 

 

 

 

 

Southern Mexico hit by Magnitude 8.1 Earthquake

 

    • An earthquake of magnitude 8.1 rocked Mexico yesterday. Thousands came out panicking on the streets in their pyjamas, fearing for their lives. However, it's been
      around 24Hrs since the fiasco and fresh reports coming in now suggest that at least 61 people have died in the calamity that struck the nation yesterday late in the
      night. Structures such as schools and hospitals have suffered damages. The earthquake has been the strongest to hit the country in a century. The earthquake struck the neighboring country of Gautemala too. More details awaited.
    • On late Thursday night, an earthquake of 8.1 Magnitude rocked western Mexico. The earthquake is the strongest in a century to have shaken the country. The tremors were really strong and left myriad structures shaking. The epicenter of the earthquake is said to be in the Pacific Ocean, approximately 600 miles southeast of Mexico City and 74 miles off the Pacific coast. The earthquake had the people panicking and running out to the streets in their night wears as the tremors were felt. At least 5 people are feared dead in the catastrophic episode that struck the country. In view of the earthquake with its epicenter in the Pacific Ocean, Tsunami warnings were also issued for the regions with waved up to 3 meters high. Rescue operations in the area are underway and people are advised to check the gas connections for any leakage to avoid hazards. More details awaited.

    • A strong earthquake of magnitude 8.1 has struck the southern coast of Mexico on 7 September 2017. As per the reports of United States Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake was 100 km south-west of the town of Pijijiapan and at a depth of 35km. Buildings were shaking and people running into the streets as the Mexico City witnessed the earthquake. This very powerful earthquake has sparked of Tsunami warnings for Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama and Honduras. More details awaited.

 

 

 

6.2 magnitude earthquake hits Mexico:

2016-06-07 10:51:42 (UTC): A 6.2 magnitude earthquake was reported in Mexico. The tremors were felt at the eastern coast near Cihuatlan. According to media reports, the impact of the earthquake was felt in the entire region of Jalisco. The epicenter is around 65 miles southwest of Manzanillo, Colima.

 

6.6 magnitude earthquake hits off the coast of Jalisco in Mexico

A 6.6 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Jalisco in Mexico. According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake, which had a depth of 10km, was centered around 215 km southwest of Tomatlan and 255km west of Cihuatlan.

Quake with 6.2-magnitude strikes off northern Mexico

 

An earthquake with 6.2-magnitude hit northeastern region of San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico on Tuesday, October 7, according to the US Geological Survey. The quake was about 10 kilometers deep that was felt in the Culiacan city, the capital of the west Sinaloa state. So far, there are no reports of damage caused.
