Yemen's president resigns as crisis in country deepens
January 23 , 2015
The situation in Yemen has taken an uncertain turn after President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi and Prime Minister Khaled Bahah resigned, saying that the Shia Houthi rebels had dishonored a peace deal, according to media reports.
With the rebels amassing in capital Sanaa, the country faces a potentially dangerous political vacuum.
Reports said the parliament has not accepted the resignations. Rebel leaders have, however, welcomed Hadi’s resignation.
Meanwhile, there have been reports of gunfire from some parts of the capital on Friday, January 23.
