Yemen: US steps up weapons supply to Saudi-led coalition

  • The US is speeding up the delivery of arms to the Saudi Arabia-led coalition which is carrying out air attacks in Yemen.

The bombing campaign is targeting Shia Houthi rebels, who had forced Yemen’s President Hadi to flee the country.

Antony Blinken, the US deputy secretary of state, said America was also increasing intelligence sharing with the anti-Houthi coalition.

Meanwhile, aid organizations have warned that the Yemini port city of Aden, which is the scene of fierce fighting between rebels and forces loyal to Hadi, faces a humanitarian disaster.
