Yemen: Saudi-led coalition resumes anti-Houthi air strikes after ceasefire ends
May 18 , 2015
The Saudi-led military coalition has resumed its air bombing against Houthi rebels in Yemen after a ceasefire ended, reports say.
Strikes targeted Shia rebel positions in Aden — the southern port city which has seen heavy fighting in the past month — after the five-day ceasefire expired.
The Iran-backed Houthis have stayed away from talks in Saudi Arabia aimed at resolving the crisis.
Meanwhile, the UN envoy to Yemen called on all parties to “renew their commitment” to the humanitarian truce and extend it for at least five more days.
