Yemen: Houthi rebels push ahead in Aden as fighting intensifies
April 6 , 2015
The Shia Houthi rebels in Yemen have pushed ahead in the besieged port city of Aden. The rebels' gains come despite Saudi-led air strikes, which started after Yemini president Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi was forced to flee Aden. As per media reports, the Shia fighters are battling with pro-Hadi forces to gain control over the southern city.
Meanwhile, countries such as India and China have escalated efforts to rescue their nationals from the country. Russia and Red Cross have separately called for a temporary halt in the fighting in Aden to get in humanitarian aid.
