White House Refuses Release of Photo Showing the US President Trump Signing Obama-era Gun Law Repeal
February 17 , 2018
The White House has refused to release a photo that shows the US President Donald Trump signing a law “HJ Resolution 40” on February 28, 2017 that repeals an Obama-era rule that maintained database of disabled people in the United States. This measure included all kinds of disabilities such as "marked subnormal intelligence, or mental illness, incompetency, condition, or disease". The concerned database was used by FBI for reviewing who is able to purchase firearm. This Obama-era gun control measure was throughout opposed by the influential gun lobby National Rifle Association (NRA), mental health advocacy organisations, and renowned civil-rights organisation ACLU. White House refused to publish images of the President signing repeal of this Obama-era rule after a prominent news agency requested copy of the image.
