US says UN Security Council is United in Continuing Sanctions on North Korea

  • The U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said while addressing media that the UN Security Council is united in seeking North Korea’s final and verified denuclearization. He went on to say that all the countries in the Security Council agreed to the fact that continued full enforcement of economic sanctions will help in the elimination of all nuclear weapons from DPRK, the goal that has been agreed upon by “Chairman Kim”. Pompeo made these statements in New York (with the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley by his side) after briefing envoys of the U.N. Security Council. US reaction comes after Russia and China suggested the U.N. Security Council could discuss loosening sanctions on North Korea.
