US Department of Homeland Security had identified 21 states including California, Wisconsin, Ohio, and others that were unsuccessfully targeted by Russian Government hackers during US Presidential election of 2016. President of the U.S. National Association of State Election Directors, Judd Choate, has reportedly said that there is no evidence to prove that even a single vote or registration was changed by the Russian hackers. Reports say that Homeland Security officials have confirmed that the hacking activities by the Russian hackers were only preliminary in nature. California Secretary of State Alex Padilla has said that the hackers did succeed in scanning state election systems but were unable to breach it.
