US Government Report says Global Warming will Adversely Affect Economy

  • A US government report (Fourth National Climate Assessment Volume II) claimed that climate change can cost the US economy (from infrastructure to health) hundreds of billions of dollars by the end of this century. The congressionally mandated report said that the rate of emissions is at all time high historic level and by century-end, it can lead to massive loss, which will be “more than the current gross domestic product (GDP) of many U.S. states”. The climate report also says that global warming will damage infrastructure, broadly affect human health, hurt poor people disproportionately, increase industrial costs, alter coastlines, and limit water availability. In a statement, the White House has said that the concerned climate report (compiled with the help of multiple US government departments and agencies) is inaccurate.
