US: 24 Detainees have Tested Positive for Coronavirus in Chicago Jail

In a statement, Sheriff's office confirmed that at least 24 detainees at Cook County Jail in Chicago had tested positive of novel Coronavirus. At present, the jail complex houses around 5,400 detainees. Eighty-nine detainees are showing flu-like symptoms and have been tested positive so far. Of those, 24 tested positive, and two negative cases have come up. Additionally, 63 have pending test results. Previously, Covid-19 was reported in prisons and jails in China. Other countries like the US is also making a call to release non-violent prisoners to reduce overcrowding and prevent the spread of the virus.
