Ukraine's president orders troops to stop fighting
February 15 , 2015
Ukraine's president Petro Poroshenko has ordered his forces to stop fighting in the east, and said the ceasefire agreement with the pro-Russia separatists must be honored.
He warned the rebels against further attacks on Debaltseve town.
Though fighting appeared to stop when the ceasefire came into force, sporadic instances of mortar fire were reported in the subsequent hours.
Rebel leaders have also told their forces to halt fighting.
Speaking on television in Kiev, Poroshenko said this was “perhaps the last chance” for peace.
