Typhoon Neoguri causes widespread damage in Japan

After leaving a trail of destruction in Okinawa islands, Typhoon Neoguri headed towards the mainland in Japan.
With winds reaching 110 miles per hour, it was forecast to hit Kyushu islands and then move along the archipelago, according to the weather agency.
In Okinawa, where around 500,000 people were forced into shelter, an estimated 70,000 people were without power. Schools were shut, and air and sea travel suspended.
Two deaths attributed to the typhoon have been reported so far.
