Typhoon Hagupit strengthens into super storm

Typhoon Hagupit has gained strength and consolidated into a super storm as it nears the Philippines, according to media reports.
With gusts touching 230km/h, it is due to make landfall on Saturday.
According to estimates, it is heading towards Samar province and Tacloban city, which bore the brunt of Typhoon Haiyan in November 2013. Officials have issued warnings about heavy rain, storms, and the possibility of landslides.
People are stocking up on essential supplies, and government offices and schools have been shut.
