Turkey criticizes UK for 'late information' on schoolgirls planning to join jihadists in Syria
February 24 , 2015
The Turkish government has criticized the UK for taking too much time to inform it about three schoolgirls from London who came to Istanbul, possibly with the intention of joining jihadist fighters in Syria.
Bulent Arınc,Turkey’s deputy prime minister, said that in case the girls are not traced, the responsibility would lie with Britain. He said it was “condemnable” that Britain had let the girls travel to Istanbul and “let us know three days later”.
The trio is believed to have reached Istanbul airport on February 17.
