October 4 , 2020
The US President Donald Trump has posted a 4-minute video on Twitter from his hospital suite at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (close to Washington DC) on Saturday night. He told Americans that he is feeling much better but the real test of his COVID-19 treatment will be in the next few days. The video message was put on Twitter by the US President after the spread of confusion following the spread of a series of contradictory messages by the White House. Minutes after the video was posted, the White House chief of staff Mark Meadows said: “The president’s vitals over the last 24 hours were very concerning and the next 48 hours will be critical in terms of his care. We’re still not on a clear path to a full recovery.” Administration officials say that the video was posted by Trump from Walter Reed as a precautionary measure and Trump is going to stay in the hospital for several days. Dr. Sean Conley, the physician of the US President, said in a statement: “while not yet out of the woods, the team remains cautiously optimistic” about the condition of the President. In the 4-minute video message from the hospital, Trump said: “I'll be back, I think I'll be back soon. And I look forward to finishing up the campaign the way it was started.” World leaders across the world have sent their best wishes to both the US President and the First Lady Melania Trump after their COVID-19 diagnosis. Some of the prominent leaders who sent their best wishes include the PM of Britain Boris Johnson, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, PM of India Narendra Modi, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, the President of the European Council Charles Michel, Foreign Ministry of China, and the Foreign Ministry of Taiwan. Others include the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and leaders of Turkey, Egypt, Poland, and many more. Prominent US Democratic leaders such as former US President Barack Obama, US Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, and Biden’s running mate Senator Kamala Harris have wished both the US President Donald Trump and the US First Lady Melania Trump quick recovery from COVID-19 novel coronavirus infection.
