Tourist Boat Sinks in Colombia with 150 on-board, 9 Dead and 28 Missing

  • A tourist boat (named El Almirante – the Admiral) carrying around 150 people sank at Guatapé-El Peñol reservoir near Medellín city of Colombia. Reports say more than 9 people have died and over 28 are missing. Authorities are yet to confirm about the total number of deaths and injured people in the mishap. Colombian air force helicopters have been deployed to evacuate the most seriously injured. Reports say boat broke in two halves and the captain asked all passengers to move to one side of the boat.  Rescued passengers reportedly said that no life vests were provided while boarding the vessel.
