  • Illinois tornado: The two women killed were neighbors

    April 11,2015 : The devastating tornado system that tore through Illinois claimed two lives and caused massive damage to the structures in Fairdale. 69-year-old  Jacklyn Klosa was found on Friday morning buried in the rubble not far  from where 67-year-old Geraldine Schultz died on Thursday night, media reports said. The two women were believed to be friends. More than a dozen people were injured but their injuries are not considered to be life threatening. Fairdale was the hardest hit but the storm also damaged buildings in nearby towns. Meanwhile, the governor of Illinois Bruce Rauner declared both Ogle and DeKalb counties as disaster areas.

    Illinois tornado: Search operations continue

    April 10,2015 : Crews searched for missing people after at least one tornado tore through a small northern town in Illinois. As per media reports, the tornado, which was a part of a large storm system that swept across much of the United States, led to the death of one person. Around 11 people were injured and many homes were destroyed in Fairdale. The crews had twice searched each damaged structure and were gearing up for a third search. However, the police said that they were not yet sure of how many people were still unaccounted for in the town. 

    Tornado lashes Illinois, one dead

    At least one person was killed when a tornado touched down near Rochelle in Illinois. As per media reports, the tornado caused massive damage to the structures in the area. The fatality took place in the tiny hamlet of Fairdale, which is located 60 miles northwest of Chicago. More than 800 flights at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport were cancelled due to the weather. Tornadoes were also reported near Peoria, Illinois and Dewitt, Iowa.
