Thousands of Pro-Democracy Protesters Hit the Streets in Hong Kong

  • Hundreds of thousands of people joined the anti-government protest-march on Sunday in Hong Kong. The protest march started at Victoria Park (in Causeway Bay) and is scheduled to end in Central’s Chater Road. Massive people’s participation along with slogans such as “Free Hong Kong” has caused repeated stand-off between protesters and Hong Kong police. The Hong Kong police said that before the start of the protest march, they had arrested eleven people, from whom the police had reportedly seized a 9mm semi-automatic pistol. Verbal exchanges have raised tensions at the Central. Thousands of protesters are still marching down Queensway as the tail of the protest march is still around Wan Chai.
