Thai prime minister names the cabinet, military figures get key posts

  • It has been reported that General Prayuth Chan-ocha, Thailand’s new prime minister, has appointed his new cabinet, which has military figures in key posts.

Of the 32 members of cabinet, 12 are serving or retired military officers occupying a chunk of the most powerful ministries. The others include several civil servants.

The defense, transport, commerce, and interior ministries have gone to military figures.

Prayuth, who took control of the country in May, was voted to lead Thailand by the National Legislative Assembly.
