Tens of Thousands of Climate Activists March in Multiple Protests in Australia against Climate Change and Bushfire Crisis

  • Thousands of climate activists have marched in many major cities of Australia (including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth) on Friday, asking the government to take concrete measures to deal with the climate crisis and stop the bushfires immediately. The raging bushfires have engulfed thousands of acres of lands, forests, houses, and millions of animals. The Sydney protest was attended by around 30,000 protesters, as per police reports. The organizers claim that around 50,000-to-60,000 protesters joined the protest march in Sydney, which saw demonstrators carrying signboards such as “Change the System, Not the Climate”, “Koalas Not Coal”, “Sack ScoMo”, and many more. Most of the demonstrators were angry at Prime Minister Scott Morrison, who made a lackluster response to the raging bushfires because of his support for coal mines. Till now 27 people have died, around two thousand houses are burnt, and around a billion animals affected due to the raging bushfires in Australia.
