Syria meets chemical weapons plan deadline
October 28 , 2013
The Syrian government has submitted a plan for the removal of the declared chemical weapons in its possession.
The declaration was submitted three days prior to the Sunday deadline and the OPCW is expected to review the plan by Nov. 15.
No details regarding the declaration have been released but reports suggest that the removal and destruction of the weapons will be an extensive effort.
A spokesman for OPCW said Syria has been cooperative so far; the nation has until the mid-2014 to complete the destruction or removal of these weapons.
