Suicide Bombing Kills 3 and Injures 14 in the Somalian Capital

  • A suicide car bombing took place in Mogadishu (capital of Somalia) today killing 3 soldiers and injuring 14 people. While the attack was carried out on a government office, a nearby school has reportedly collapsed. The militant group al-Shabab, which has been waging insurgency for over a decade now, has taken responsibility for the attack. The marginalized Al-Shabab militant outfit lost its sheen after the formation of a UN-backed unity government back in 2012. It currently controls areas in rural regions of Somalia (imposing a strict version of Sharia) but is reportedly trying to regain ground in mainland Somalia.
