Stark warning over link between belly fat and diabetes

  • Public Health England has warned that men measuring more than 40 inches around the middle have five times more chances of being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes than men with smaller waists.

For British women, whose waists are more than 35 inches are three times at more risk than others, the advisory says.

In its report to local community officials, Public Health England has clearly stated that for type 2 diabetes, excess weight is the greatest risk factor.
