Scores of people are feared buried under the debris as Sri Lankan rescue workers step up efforts to search for survivors in a landslide-hit tea plantation, according to media reports.
The landslide struck Meeriyabedda plantation, around 120 miles to the east of capital Colombo, on Wednesday, October 29.
Heavy machinery is being used to dig the mud, but officials warn that chances of finding survivors are slim.
There are conflicting reports on the number of those trapped, with estimates ranging from 100 to 250.
