South China Sea: Vietnam launches cruise to disputed islands for 'patriotic' citizens
June 5 , 2015
In a thinly-veiled attempt to make a political and diplomatic point, Vietnam is offering its patriotic citizens a cruise to disputed islands in the South China Sea.
China’s claims over the islands have increased tensions in the region in recent years. Vietnam is among the countries that have made rival claims.
As part of the $800 trip, 180 Vietnamese nationals can see parts of the Spratly archipelago and take part in activities such as night fishing along the disputed areas.
