Somali militant leader possibly killed in US drone strike
September 3 , 2014
Ahmed Abdi Godane, the leader of the Somali militant group al-Shabaab, may have been killed in a US strike, reports said.
Godane was in one of the vehicles targeted by the US air strike, a member of the Islamist group —which is linked to the al-Qaida — admitted, but he did not confirm if their leader was among the six militants who got killed.
The two vehicles on their way to Barawe town in coastal Somalia were hit in the drone strike around 105 miles south of capital Mogadishu.
