Snowden to continue staying in Russia
January 25 , 2014
Russia doesn't have issues keeping Edward Snowden in the country, who is now free to keep on enjoying the hospitality there.
However, Snowden said that coming back to the United States would be "the best resolution for the government, the public" and himself, which may not be a possibility "in the face of current whistleblower protection laws."
"There are so many holes in the laws, the protections they afford are so weak ... that they appear to be intended to discourage reporting of even the clearest wrongdoing." he said. Eric Holder, on the other hand said Snowden would engage with his lawyers if he were to return and enter a plea. He also mentioned that every defendant would get that opportunity and there's no question of clemency.
