Smoke fills train and station in Washington DC Metro, one dies

  • Smoke filled a subway train and station Monday afternoon, January 12, on the Washington DC Metro, leading to the death of a woman and the evacuation of hundreds of commuters before rush hour.

    Many passengers were injured, media reports said.

    Officials said passengers had to be evacuated from the L’Enfant Plaza station in the US capital. Thick black smoke got spread in a train that had stopped outside the station.

    The cause of the smoke has not yet been confirmed.
