Seven-year-old girl dies in custody after crossing US-Mexico border

  • A migrant girl, aged 7, died due to dehydration and exhaustion when she was taken into Border Patrol custody. She along with her father, as a part of large group of 163 migrants, had been entering the United States illegally. The incident has spiked scrutiny against the detention conditions present in the stations of the US border. After 8 hours in custody, she started having seizures, and emergency workers analyzed that the girl had not consumed water for many days. Migrants who arrive at the border, claim that they flee from their country to escape poverty and violence.
