Security around the world tightened on New Year's Eve

On the eve of New Year, security has been beefed up around the world due to fears of terrorism. As per media reports, in the United States security has been tightened in high-profile places which include Times Square in New York and the Rose Bowl festivities near Los Angeles. Meanwhile, police in Turkey and Belgium said they have foiled terrorist plots that would target New Year celebrations. After several countries were warned of possible terrorist attacks, security has been beefed up in Vienna, Austria. The government of Shanghai, China, said that no organized New Year celebration would be held on the Bund, which is a riverfront area popular among tourists.
