    March 9, 2017: The preliminary hearings in Samsung chief Lee Jae-Yong’s trial commenced on Thursday, though all the charges are being denied by his legal team. Lee Jae-Yong, also known as Jay Y.Lee, is facing a list of charges and is also the first Samsung boss who has been arrested and put in jail.

    Apart from the bribery and embezzlement charges, the Lee family and Samsung have faced many other allegations of corruption in the past.

    Samsung Heir Lee Jae-yong to be Indicted on Corruption Charges

    February 28, 2017: As per reports, Samsung heir Lee Jae-yong will be indicted by the prosecutors on bribery as well as other charges.

    Lee's indictment along with four other Samsung executives will be taking place on Tuesday. He was arrested earlier in February and ever since then, has been in custody.

    Samsung Heir Lee Jae-yong Arrested in South Korea

    February 17, 2017: Samsung's heir apparent Lee Jae-yong, who was accused of bribery and other charges, has been arrested in South Korea.

    The firm is accused of making donations to non-profit foundations operated by Choi Soon-sil. Reports say that the firm received government favors in exchange of the donations.

    The case is associated with the scandal which finally resulted in the impeachment of President Park Geung-hye.

    The acting Samsung chief was questioned twice by the prosecutors. On Friday the court said that a criminal charge has been added and new evidence has been found, it is now necessary to arrest Lee Jae-Yong.
