Russian President says the US President can be his Guest in Moscow, White House Welcomes Idea

  • Russian President Vladimir Putin said, while on his way to an economic conference in South Africa, that he wants the US President Donald Trump to be his guest in Moscow. He went on to say that for another summit to take place (after the Helsinki summit) appropriate conditions are required in both the United States and Russia. During a press statement, White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders said that the US President is open to visit Moscow once a formal invitation is received from Russia. She went on to say that Trump is looking forward to “having President Putin to Washington after the first of the year”. In a separate statement, the US Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis said that he’s considering the possibility of first-ever talks between the chief defense secretaries in years.
