Robot sub to search underwater for missing jet
April 15 , 2014
No fresh pings were detected for six days and the chief of search for the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 said the search is now being taken underwater.
The Bluefin-21 underwater autonomous vehicle will be used to search for the wreckage in an area where signals were picked up last week. The submarine is expected to search for the aircraft in an area of about 15 square miles and search chief Angus Houston said it will be "a slow and painstaking process" but there's no guarantee of success.
The area is 2.8 miles deep and is an unknown terrain to man.
