August 19 , 2014
A convoy carrying refugees was struck by rocket fire close to Luhansk in eastern Ukraine, killing dozens of people, according to media reports. The victims, included women and children.
Ukrainian government troops and separatists have blamed each other for the deadly attack. A government spokesperson said, “The rebels were expecting the convoy and destroyed it entirely.”
But a rebel leader was quoted as saying that government forces had “killed more civilians,” referring to the attack.
The United States has slammed the attack, but did not say who was behind it.
