Rebels close down offices of aid organization in eastern Ukraine
April 30 , 2015
Separatists in eastern Ukraine have forcibly closed the International Rescue Committee (IRC) offices, accusing the aid agency of spying.
The IRC staff were detained for a short while after their office in Donetsk city was raided by masked gunmen. A number of employees were then sent off to Kiev on a coach.
Russian media reports quoted rebel leaders as saying that the IRC was concealing “eavesdropping” equipment and had evaded tax payments.
Donetsk is a stronghold of the pro-Russia rebels.
