Putin won't attend key Auschwitz ceremonies
January 14 , 2015
Russia’s president Vladimir Putin won’t be attending a major event to mark 70 years of the liberation of the Auschwitz camp, highlighting the increased tensions between Russia and much of Europe, as per media reports.
The Kremlin has confirmed that Putin will skip the ceremonies and events at Auschwitz. Though Poland has not invited Putin, it says that Russia could send whoever it wished to for the events.
The conflict in eastern Ukraine, and Moscow’s support for the separatists there, has dealt a heavy blow to Polish-Russian ties.
