Prospects for Israel-Palestine peace 'dim': Obama

  • Barack Obama has said that the prospects for peace between Israel and Palestine appear “dim” given Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s pre-election vow to oppose the creation of a Palestinian state.

Downplaying the importance of the personal equation between the two leaders, the US president said that his relationship with Netanyahu was “businesslike”.

Though the Israeli Prime Minister has subsequently tried to soften his remarks on Palestine, the White House has continued to express its displeasure over the initial statements.
