November 2 , 2014
Pro-Russian rebels are preparing to hold polls in eastern Ukraine.
The controversial presidential and parliamentary polls, which the government in Kiev and the West consider illegal, are being held in Donetsk and Luhansk, the two regions under the control of the separatists.
The head of the Donetsk election commission was quoted as saying the elections would “give legitimacy to our power”.
Meanwhile, seven Ukrainian troops have been killed in the latest round of fighting in the area.
