September 5 , 2015
Racketeering, corruption and money-laundering charges have been filed against Brazil’s former presidential chief of staff José Dirceu for being allegedly involved in the corruption scandal at the state-owned oil firm Petrobras.
Other important figures, including the former treasurer of Brazil’s governing Workers’ party João Vaccari Neto, were also charged on Friday.
Dirceu, who served as the chief of staff of the then president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva between 2003 and 2005, is the most senior party member to face charges in the case.
